Our Fight for a Just Recovery.
The pandemic changed all of our lives almost overnight. Some of our members risked their lives as essential workers, while others transitioned to remote work and many took on new childcare responsibilities at home. We endured life-threatening sickness, cared for sick household members, and even lost loved ones. Through a year of personal and national tragedy, our union fought to protect our members from the financial impacts of the pandemic. Thanks to a provision negotiated in our last contract, we were able to ensure that every Local 34 member continued to receive their wages and benefits throughout the shutdown. Every worker deserves the security of a union behind them, and the right to know that during times of crisis, they won’t be discarded by their employers.
