Staying Connected: Fighting for Respect in ITS

Our members in ITS are continuing their fight against subcontracting. For years members in the department have dealt with subcontracting and short staffing. In recent months, members started to fight back after management announced that Garry Dezolt, a critical member of the Telecom Team, would be laid off. Members organized several EPM’s and last month delivered a petition addressing the subcontracting issue and urging management to rescind the layoff.

Their report titled “Staying Connected: Local 34’s Vision for Respect, Opportunity, and Community at Yale ITS” identifies who subcontracting harms, who it benefits, and lays out a better way of moving forward. We will continue to push management to do the right thing and make the changes necessary for ITS work.
