“For 30 years I have worked at the Office of Development for Yale. I am the first point of contact for all donations that the university receives and I process approximately 18,000 donations per year.]When I first receive a donation either by check or online, I have to track who it’s from, what it’s for and ensure that it is processed in a timely manner. I also work with the fundraising team to ensure donor information and make sure that their money is going to the correct place.
During the holidays I may have to process up to 300 donations in a single day. In a single year I probably process hundreds of millions of dollars of donations. The money I receive supports Yale’s schools, scholarships, departments, and grants that the university needs to function.”
